Joseph Paul Torre was born on July 18, 1940 in Brooklyn, New York. As a former baseball player, he had the golden opportunity to play for the Milwaukee/Atlanta Braves, St. Louis Cardinals and the New York Mets. His talent and determination while playing landed him the coveted title of manager for all three. Torre achieved his greatest success while managing the New York Yankees. During his 11 years of managing the team, he led them into the post-season each year and took home 10 American League East titles, six American League pennants and four World Series tiles.

Recently, on November 1, 2007, Joe Torre was officially hired as the Los Angeles Dodgers new manager. He replaces former manager Grady Little who resigned two days prior to becoming the Yankees manager.. The veteran player and manager arrives into a city thousands of miles away from his major accomplishments and consistent success. Torre will bring along his former hitting coach, Don Mattingly and the third base coach, Larry Bowa, when he arrives at spring training this season.

Torre also has dabbled a bit in the entertainment industry. During the late 1980s, he worked as a guest analyst for ESPN during the 1989 World Series and was on-site for the Loma Prieta earthquake in October of that same year. A year later, Torre started in the 1990 film, Taking Care of Business, which featured a World Series battle between the Chicago Cubs and the Angels.

Torre became the voice of the Yankee's manger in 2006 and was featured in Everyone's Hero. He always had a small cameo on Sesame Street.

Torre has one son, Michael, from his first marriage. During his second marriage he had two daughters, Lauren and Christine. After another divorce, Torre remarried in 1987 and had another daughter named Andrea. He also has a brother, Frank, who also played in baseball.
